Troubleshooting: Buffering Issues While Streaming

If you're experiencing buffering, lagging, or interruptions while watching DIRTVision, try the following troubleshooting steps.

Adjust Stream Quality

While watching a live stream:

  1. Select the gear icon in the bottom-right corner of the video player.
  2. Choose a lower quality setting, such as 1080p or 720p.
  3. Allow a few moments for the stream to adjust.

Lower video quality settings require less bandwidth and may help reduce buffering.

Clear Your Cache

  • Web Browser

    • Open your browser settings.

    • Clear your browser's cache and cookies.

    • Restart your browser and try the stream again.

  • Mobile or TV App

    • Navigate to your device's app settings.
    • Locate the DIRTVision app.
    • Clear the app cache if your device supports this option.
    • Reopen the app and test the stream.

Disable Ad Blockers and Browser Extensions

Some browser extensions, especially ad blockers, privacy tools, and content filtering extensions, can interfere with video playback.

  1. Temporarily disable any ad blockers or privacy extensions.
  2. Refresh the page and try the stream again.
  3. If the stream works after disabling an extension, add DIRTVision to the extension's allowlist.

Note: Some ad blockers may prevent the video player from loading properly, cause buffering, or result in a black screen during playback.

Check Your Internet Connection

Verify that your internet connection is stable and meets the minimum speed requirements for streaming.

  • Recommended Download Speeds

    • 480p (SD): Minimum 1.5 Mbps
    • 720p (HD): Minimum 3 Mbps
    • 1080p (Full HD): Minimum 6 Mbps

If your connection is slower than the recommended speed, buffering may occur.

You may also want to:

  • Restart your router or modem.
  • Move closer to your Wi-Fi router.
  • Use a wired Ethernet connection when possible.

Free Up System Resources

Close any applications, browser tabs, downloads, or devices that may be consuming bandwidth or system resources. Streaming performance can be affected when multiple devices are using the same internet connection.

Restart the Stream

  1. Exit the live stream completely.
  2. Refresh the page or close and reopen the app.
  3. Rejoin the broadcast.

Try Another Browser or Device

If the issue continues:

  • Try watching in another supported browser.
  • Test the stream on a different device.
  • Ensure your browser or app is fully up to date.

Disable VPN or Proxy Services

VPNs and proxy services can sometimes impact streaming performance.

If you are using a VPN or proxy:

  1. Disconnect from the service.
  2. Refresh the stream.
  3. Check whether playback improves.

Restart Your Device

Restart your computer, phone, tablet, Smart TV, or streaming device to clear temporary issues that may be affecting playback.
